Volkswagen Group UK wins top international award

With the intensive mechanisation in modern factories, it is sometimes easy to forget that your car is the end product of the work of many people. If these people are unmotivated and neglected, it is highly unlikely that they will build good cars.

This certainly won't happen at Volkswagen Group UK, as the Top Employers Institute has once again awarded the group its highly-coveted Top Employer status. The criteria used to assess VW Group UK consisted of workforce planning, talent strategy, learning & development, on-boarding, leadership development, performance management, compensation & benefits, career & succession management, and culture.

Winning this coveted award yet again places VW Group UK in the company of a select few international and UK employers recognised by the Institute as leaders in the field of employee development.

VW Group UK Ltd manages five brands: Skoda, SEAT, Audi, VW Commercial Vehicles and, of course, Volkswagen Passenger Cars.

The HR director for VW Group UK, Fiona Roberts, responded by saying that the group went through major changes during the last few years; however, during the whole of this period it made sure that people remained at the core of its business, as it understands that excellent employees produce excellent results.

She added: "Through being fussy recruiters, rigorous skill developers and focusing on what makes us unique as an employer, we have fostered strong teams with a strong culture who can drive our business forward in the future."

In November last year Ms Roberts won Personnel Today's sought-after HR Director of the Year award.
