Prestigious Caravan Club award for Land Rover
Land Rover's luxury SUV took first place at The Caravan Club Towcar of the Year competition recently. The annual competition attracted 43 entries, which were divided into two weight categories and seven price classes.
With such a broad and a diverse number of entries, the Land Rover Discovery HSE LUX came out as number one in the Over £50,000 class. The company also took the All-Wheel Drive Over 1,800kg category and the prestigious The Caravan Club Towcar of the Year 2016 award.
To reach the number one spot the vehicles were put through some gruelling tests. They were judged not only for their prowess in towing but also for something described as their 'caravanability.' This factor includes how much holiday gear can be accommodated, how easy it is to hook up a caravan, and the quality of the instruction book on essential towing information. The Land Rover can hold a massive amount of luggage and has an excellent TowAssist guidance system.
The results were made public at the recently-held awards ceremony, which took place in London on 24th September at the Royal Automobile Club. The Caravan Club chairman Grenville Chamberlain said: "It was great to see such a diverse variety of vehicles entered into the competition this year." He added: "On behalf of The Caravan Club, our congratulations go to all the winners and a special mention must go to Land Rover for its triumphant Discovery. I am sure we will see our competition entrants on Club sites in the near future."
