Land Rover Discovery's anniversary celebrated by its international fans
An extremely original film, which is crowd-sourced and highlights the real life adventures of Land Rover owners across the world, has just been released. The film is a celebration by besotted fans of this iconic British vehicle, which is celebrating 25 years of service.
The video footages show owners completing various challenges in their vehicles, some big and some small, over the last quarter of a century. The journeys include a 12,000-kilometre trek across the African continent, with others showing the Discovery getting people to work on time through all sorts of weather conditions and challenging terrain.
The film's aim is to demonstrate that the Discovery is driven in some of the most inhospitable spots in the world. Vehicle owners from 36 countries were invited by Land Rover to submit their home footage in tribute to the car; of the 1,000 film clips received, the final cut showed 70 owners from 26 countries demonstrating the strength and capability of their vehicles.
Land Rover's marketing communications director, Dominic Chambers, said: "When we started to look into it, we realised that the people who make Discovery what it is - our owners - had already made it. The story of Discovery was simply hidden in the thousands of clips shot about owner adventures all over the world. Discovery owners hold their vehicles dear to their heart and what better way to capture that passion and adventurous spirit than showcasing their own discoveries from the last 25 years."
