Ultimate Mercedes S-Class revealed
If you thought that the ultimate Mercedes S-Class was the S63 AMG, perhaps you should think again. The company has now unleashed its flagship model, the S65 AMG, with 621bhp and a 0-62mph speed of 4.3 seconds. The S65 looks different to the S63 at the front. It has a 12-spoke grille that represents just how many cylinders are in the engine, and the air intakes are finished in chrome as opposed to black.
The S65 returns 23.7mpg, emits 27g/km of C02, and has been designed to fall in line with the new EU6 emissions rules that are due to come into force in 2015. This model will have two pieces of equipment that no other model has in the shape of a head-up display and an innovative touchpad.
The touchpad enables drivers to employ smartphone gestures such as zooming and swiping, and the head-up display will give information about speed and current gear.
The new S65 is due to be revealed to the world at the LA and Tokyo Motor Shows later in the month, and will be probably be priced in the UK at about £170,000. The features include a Burmester stereo, keyless go, and massage leather seats.
