The Mercedes S-class S500L 2013

Mercedes-Benz's sixth-generation S-Class looks set to be a winner in its class. The technologically advanced luxury motor has Mercedes looking to claim the top spot among its rivals, including the Audi A8, Jaguar XJ, BMW 7 Series and the Lexus LS.

Six variations of the car, including both short and long-wheelbase models will be available. The new car's exterior remains similar to the previous model; however it now has a more sculptured shape. It now has a prominent grille with large, gaunt headlights at the front, while a prominent swage line along each side is striking. With a drag coefficient of just 0.24, the S-class's aerodynamic properties are second to none.

Inside the car, comfort levels are extremely high. The seats are easy to reposition and offer plenty of back support and the feel of the cabin is spacious, with more headroom than the previous model. One of the main features of the new S-class is the advanced suspension, which absorbs bumps, which works well with the car's advanced noise suppression capabilities.

There is enough power to give the S500 solid acceleration, and Mercedes claims it will achieve 0-62 in 4.8 seconds. If this is the case, then it is slightly faster than its predecessor and offers a top speed of 155mph.
