New Mercedes A-Class and B-Class models
Mercedes-Benz has added two new ECO diesels to its A-Class and B-Class ranges: the A180 CDI ECO SE and the B180 CDI ECO SE. The models will be on sale from January 2014 and will have weight-saving features, powertrain modifications, better fuel consumption and improved aerodynamics. Even with the improved fuel consumption, Mercedes says that there will be no change to performance levels.
The models come as direct replacements for the current A180 CDI SE and B 180 CDI SE models. CO2 emissions on the new A180 have been cut by 6% to 92g/km, with fuel consumption of 78.5mpg.
The new B180 CO2 emissions have been decreased to 98g/km - a 9% reduction - with mpg going up to 74.3. Even though Mercedes has been working hard to make both cars economical, there has been no reduction in performance and the 0 to 60mph acceleration has not been altered.
In addition to being included in the new ECO SE models, the Mercedes four-wheel drive system will be available in the A- and B-Class ranges from January next year. The drive system ensures the best in traction and driving dynamics in all types of weather conditions.
The A 180 CDI ECO SE will cost from £21,965 on the road, with the B180 CDI ECO SE starting at £22,950.
