Mercedes claims Formula One title
There is no doubt that success on the Formula One international stage has had an effect on showroom sales. German premium car manufacturer Mercedes has once again raised the bar on the race track to beat all comers for the second year in succession, with the Mercedes AMG F1 team winning the constructors' title in Russia last weekend with rounds to spare.
The success of the company coincides with technical regulation changes in 2014. During this period Mercedes has won in 28 out of 34 outings, which is a terrific effort by all involved. Speaking about the success, the company chairman Dr Dieter Zetsche said: "What an incredible moment for Mercedes-Benz! Congratulations to our team in Brackley and Brixworth who have worked so hard to make this achievement possible, winning a second world championship in a row."
He added: "After winning in 2014, we raised the bar again to secure this year's title, and we needed to because our rivals gave us plenty of headaches as they stepped up their performance."
Mr Zetsche went on to say that it was having the best technology that drove Mercedes-Benz forward. This included having the world's number one hybrid petrol engine, intelligent design technology and, of course, winning aerodynamics. In addition to paying tribute to the technical side of the cars, he also had some praise for the two drivers and the team behind them, which added the touch of magic to make the machines world-beaters.
The company obviously now has its eye on next year and hopes to maintain the momentum.
