First spy shots of Mercedes 450 estate make their appearance
Rumours were doing the rounds last month that German luxury car manufacturer Mercedes Benz was working on a C450 model that would fit in between the soon-to-be-released C63 AMG and the current top-of-the-range C-Class - the C400.
It now appears that these rumours were correct. The first spy shots of the new car have emerged on the internet, showing the latest model without any camouflage whatsoever.
The car carries a C450 4Matic badge at the back, and the front fenders proudly display Sport AMG emblems.
At this stage we cannot confirm exact details about the new model, but the 4Matic designation seems to indicate four-wheel drive for this specific car; however, a rear-wheel drive version might also become available.
Power is reported to be boosted from the current 329bhp offered by the V6 3,000cc twin-turbo in the C400 to around 367bhp for the new model.
The C450 will not, of course, boast a full selection of AMG upgrades - these will remain the domain of the C63; however, those who buy the vehicle should no doubt be able to show their friends that they have bought something special. The spy shots clearly show the C450's large wheels, diamond grille and four tailpipes nestling in a neat rear diffuser.
The new model will apparently also benefit from enhanced brakes and suspension.
As is obvious from the spy shots, the new model is currently being put to the test as a C-Class Touring, but a saloon version is virtually a certainty.
