Best ever October sales for Mercedes-Benz

October saw a record-breaking registration performance by Mercedes-Benz, according to statistics released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). The company's best-ever results were for cars, trucks and the new Fuso Canter ranges, which together reinforced a terrific first ten months of 2013 for Mercedes.

Mercedes-Benz is still the UK's quickest-growing premium car brand, with year-to-date registrations up by 19% to 94,231. With only a couple of months left of the year, the figures have already surpassed 2012 and have beaten the previous record-breaking year, 2003, when 93,634 cars were sold. The growth in Mercedes car sales for October 2013 was 28%, with 8,275 new cars sold.

The high-performance AMG models are still extremely successful, and sales figures for the year to date are up by 58%. The president and chief executive officer of Mercedes-Benz UK, Marcus Breitschwerdt, said: "Last month, Mercedes-Benz UK broke 24 records for best-ever performance across its divisions, and I didn't doubt for a minute that we'd follow that extraordinary record with a record-breaking October. We've broken another record in some style, too, with our UK passenger cars business beating a sales record that has stood for almost a decade. It's a really significant milestone and a fantastic moment for everyone in the company."

Mr Breitschwerdt added that the company is looking forward to having a fantastic finish to a record-breaking year in the final two months.
