A glimpse of the new Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet
More design details of the new Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet have recently been revealed via a teaser image. The debut of this much-discussed model is to be at the German Motor Show in Frankfurt next month.
It seems that the top luxury carmaker knows how to make car enthusiasts lick their lips before a full launch and the S-Class Cabriolet is certain to do that. We have already seen a relatively undisguised image of the car being tested at the Nürburgring but now there is an official picture showing the luxurious cabin and the rear end.
When it reaches the dealer showrooms the S-Class Cabriolet will be a potential rival to the Bentley Continental GT Convertible. After its Frankfurt debut, potential buyers won't have to wait too long, as sources inside Mercedes say the Cabriolet will be on sale towards the end of this year. Prices for this striking new Mercedes model will start from around £110,000. Demand for the new car is certain to be high.
The new Cabriolet has a weight-saving fabric roof but will probably be marketed more as a comfortable cruiser than a luxury sports car. The car is expected to have the same cabin design as the Coupe with the entry-level model likely to have a powerful 4.7-litre V8 S500 power unit delivering 449bhp. We can also expect plenty of innovative technology, as with the Coupe, such as Magic Body Control and crystal-infused LED headlights.
