Land Rover is planning the ultimate hardcore off-roader
There are rumours going around the car industry that Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is planning to launch something a bit special in the near future. If the whispers are to be believed, this will be a complete new range of SVX models offering the ultimate off-road experience. With the launch of the Special Vehicles Operations division at JLR, the company has already produced some notable models; however, apparently there are yet more to come.
The JLR SVX range of vehicles will be out-and-out hardcore cars for the toughest off-road terrain. Even though no details have been released yet, the inspiration for the SVX model comes from rough-terrain rally events. These events, such as the Camel Trophy and Dakar Rally, really put cars through their paces and only the most resilient make it through to the finish.
We are told that the Defender will get the best send-off there is when the company produces the definitive high-performance tribute to this old favourite; similarly, JLR could be looking at the possibility of an extreme Range Rover. If either of these cars are produced, they would be ideal for the SVX range.
The Special Operations Unit has already shown the motoring world what it can produce with the Range Rover SVR and the luxurious SV Autobiography. The SVX line will certainly be a welcome addition if the rumours turn into facts and all is likely to be revealed in the months ahead.
