New BMW 3-Series planned for 2018
There is no doubt that the BMW 3-Series has been popular in showrooms around the globe. Plans for the next generation, which should be something special, are already underway, with the new model expected to be launched in 2018.Some minor adjustments have recently been made to the 3-Series by the German premium car manufacturer; however, a recent report says 2018 is the year to look forward to for a complete overhaul, including bodywork and performance. The report states that the new vehicle will have an evolutionary design and will utilise many new technologies.
We can only guess at what type of high-tech gadgetry will be used in the new 3-Series; however, this is likely to include gesture control and voice activation, with a big touchscreen used as a central control system. Other features, such as remote control parking and semi-autonomous technology, will make this vehicle highly competitive in its class.
The new 3-Series is also likely to see an increase in power and performance, with the M3 and M4 fitted with water injection, e-chargers and straight-six units. The top-of-the-range vehicles will still offer rear-wheel drive, while a tasty M350i model will use xDrive. A couple of plug-in hybrid variants will also be introduced.
