Latest generation BMW M2 revealed
German premium car manufacturer BMW has just unveiled the latest model in its range. The M2, which has been released under the desirable M badge, has been eagerly awaited by BMW aficionados. The M2 has a six-cylinder engine linked to rear-wheel drive agility that should make for a winning combination. By utilising the M TwinPower Turbo technology, this model will have terrific torque delivery available across a wide rev band.
A release date has been pencilled in as spring 2016. The price will be revealed nearer the time. It will come with an output of 365 bhp at 6,500 rpm, which is more potent than its predecessor, the 1M coupe. There is the option of the M Double Clutch Transmission, which if fitted gives some highly commendable performance figures. From standstill to 60 mph, if Launch Control is activated, the time is a commendable 4.2 seconds. If the car has a six-speed gearbox, this time goes up to 4.4 seconds, which is certainly not considered slow. The maximum, electronically limited speed is given by BMW as 155 mph.
From the three-dimensional "shark nose" grille to the twin circular headlamps, the lines of the car are sharp and designed for speed. The outer air intakes look like spoilers, which are well-known features for most fans of motorsport. However, these air intakes are not just a nod of acknowledgment to the past; they function to divert air flow and make the car more aerodynamic.
We are all looking forward to seeing the M2 in the showrooms next year.
