BMW to showcase new M models and i8 at 2014 Goodwood Festival
BMW will showcase its latest and greatest sports cars at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the M5 30 Jahre Edition and the i8 supercar making their debut. The former is the most powerful production vehicle in the history of the Germany luxury car brand.
The i8 will make its debut at this year's Goodwood Festival with a mix of live action on the famous Goodwood Hill and a static display. Powered by a turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, the i8 can use a combination of its electric motor and petrol engine to accelerate from 0-62mph in a blistering 4.4 seconds before going on to reach a top speed, which is electronically limited, of 155mph.
What is even more impressive is that, despite this impressive performance, the i8 will emit a mere 49g/km of CO2 and offer fuel consumption of 135mpg.
In addition to celebrating its latest hybrid model, BMW will be honouring the renowned M-range with two launches in the UK - the M4 Coupe and the M3 Saloon. These models will be on show alongside the X4 and the new M4 Convertible.
M5 fans are in for a special treat to celebrate three decades of the model, with a display of a number of classics and the release of a brand new special edition - the M5 30 Jahre. Only 30 of these cars will be built. They will boast power output of 600PS, producing a 0-62mph acceleration figure of just 3.9 seconds.
