BMW announces price of new 2-Series Convertible
German luxury car manufacturing giant BMW has revealed its specification and pricing structure for the new-generation 2-Series Convertible. The new car, which is a replacement for the 1-Series, will be on sale in the UK from February 2015 and will have a starting price of £29,180.
There are already two other models in the 2-Series range, with the Coupe and the Active Tourer MPV going on sale earlier this year. The company will be optimistic that the new convertible will do well in what is a highly-competitive market place, as its predecessor sold over 130,000 units internationally. There is no reason to suggest that the new 2-Series will not do the same or better.
If we compare the 2-Series with the 1-Series, the 2-Series is longer and wider, which means that there is a lot more space inside and better access to the back seats. There is also a bigger boot, which now has a capacity of 335 litres.
The roof, which is operated electronically, can be raised or lowered at speeds of no more than 30mph in around 20 seconds. This model comes with four separate engines and trims, including M Sport, Sport and Luxury.
The top-of-the-range engine for this model is the M235i, which can propel the vehicle from 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds and on to a top speed, which has been artificially limited, of 155mph.
Fuel-saving features that BMW has put in other models are included in the 2-Series Convertible, which has stop-start technology and brake energy regeneration.
