The most powerful Audi R8 ever
Audi has revealed its most powerful road-going R8 ever in the form of the Audi R8 LMX. The V10 engine develops 570PS/540Nm, which equates in real terms to a nerve-tingling 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds; the top speed is 198mph. The R8 LMX returns a frugal 21.9mpg, with CO2 emissions of 299g/km.
The supercar will be previewed at the forthcoming Festival of Speed at Goodwood, which takes place on 26th June. The car will then be on sale at a price of £160,025, with a limited run of 99 units.
One of the main features of the LMX is its laser lights for high beam, which offer double the range of illumination of other LED headlights. The lights have an 'intelligent' camera with a sensor to detect other vehicles and adjust the beam patterns, thereby avoiding dazzle.
This top-of-the-range R8 has had a number of modifications in styling, including a fixed rear-end spoiler and the extra use of CFRP (carbon fibre-reinforced polymer) in the front-end spoiler. The single-frame grille and the air-intakes at the front, along with the outlet grille at the back, have all been finished in titanium grey. The R8 also features a high-gloss sports exhaust system with black tailpipes.
There is a blue theme inside the cabin, with bucket seats upholstered in Nappa leather with Sepang Blue diamond stitching. The leather theme is continued on the S-tronic selector lever, and the floor mats are piped in themed blue stitching to maintain the elegant feel.
