Geneva Motor Show unveiling for Audi S3 Cabriolet
Audi has finally released details of its new luxury performance convertible: the S3 Cabriolet. The car, which is modelled on the extremely popular A3 Cabriolet, will be unveiled in Geneva next month and will be a welcome member of the S3 range, which already includes the five-doors Sportback, the three-door hatch and the four-door saloon.
The S3 Cabriolet has the same 2.0-litre turbo engine as the rest of the S3 models and will produce 296bhp, which is more powerful than anything available at present in the A3 cabriolet range. Like all speedy Audi's, the S3 Cabriolet is part of the Quattro family, meaning that the power is sent to all four wheels using an automatic six-speed gearbox with twin clutches as standard.
Audi's performance figures for this car are terrific. This heavyweight four-seater can hit 62mph from zero in just 5.4 seconds and then onwards to a top speed of 155mph (electronically limited). Fuel consumption is also pretty impressive at 39.8mpg.
The S3 Cabriolet is distinguished by its grey front grille, stand-out bumpers and 18-inch alloys. Inside the cabin, the main features include diamond-quilted sports seats and the 'S' brand sports steering wheel
There are no price details available yet, but order books open in April for a July delivery.
