Audi experiences record sales in June
Driven by booming demand in the world's two biggest car markets, the US and China, luxury car manufacturer Audi has recorded its best sales in any six-month period since it started doing business.
A few days ago the German car maker, which is based in Ingolstadt, revealed that sales for the period January-June 2014 increased by 11.4% compared to the same period last year.
The biggest part of this growth was recorded in the United States and China, with the company's sales in Europe also showing a significant increase.
In North America, Audi managed to increase sales by 12.8% on an annual basis. Last month alone the company sold 21.2% more cars in the North American market than during the same period in 2013.
The United States has turned out to be a particularly lucrative market for the German car maker, with 84,349 units sold during the first six months of this year. Audi also recorded its 42nd consecutive record-breaking month in the US market last month to coincide with the launch of its highly-popular A8 model.
In China Audi sold 50,000 cars in a single month for the first time. Sales of the Audi Q3 SUV, which is very popular in that country, increased by a staggering 61.3%.
Other German car manufacturers have also seen their incomes boosted as an increasing number of consumers across the world, especially those in emerging markets, can afford to buy four wheels.
