Audi A3 Cabriolet debuts in Frankfurt
Inspired by the new Audi A3 Saloon with its sleek look and carefully balanced proportions, the brand new A3 Cabriolet, which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show, will be available to order in the UK at the end of October for delivery in the spring.
Despite its larger proportions compared with the previous model, it weighs in at 50 kilograms lighter. Inside, the cabin is spacious, with extra storage space available when the back seats are folded away. The electro-mechanical parking brake is a new feature, which is activated via a button in the centre console.
The three engine possibilities offer an average fuel economy saving of approximately 12 per cent compared with the previous Cabriolet range, despite the fact that this model offers increased performance capabilities. The 1.4-litre, turbo fuel stratified injection (TFSI) engine can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 9.1 seconds, yet still provides 56.6mpg. It also has an extremely healthy carbon footprint, with CO2 emissions at 114g/km.
Sophisticated optional systems for the Cabriolet include cruise control, active lane assist, side assist, speed limit recognition and park assist.
Audi has also announced that the first ever S3 Cabriolet will launch in the coming months. It comes with a 2.00-litre, TFSI engine and the company's six-speed, S tronic transmission. This model is capable of getting from 0 to 62mph in 5.4 seconds, but will still offer a commendable 39.9mpg.
