£1.1m investment in new Manchester location
We've completed a £1.1m investment in a purpose-built 12,000sq ft rental facility near Stockport to enable us to better serve our corporate and private customers across the North West. The investment has already created around 25 new jobs in our Vehicle Rental division, which now employs 180 staff around the UK.
Located on the S:Park development in a high profile position close to the M60, the new facility features a full customer reception, an indoor valet area, extensive customer parking and houses a fleet of 150 vehicles.
The Manchester Stockport location is the seventh in our nationwide network and supports our ambitious expansion plans. Already one of the UK's leading independent vehicle rental specialists, the investment will enable us to strategically develop rental markets in the North West, giving access to Manchester and Liverpool airports while also supporting its growing operation in Yorkshire.
"Having this year celebrated our 20th anniversary, we are well-established within the niche prestige and specialist vehicle rental sector and, with more than 1,500 vehicles, we have the largest independent fleet in the UK and plan to double the fleet size over the next 18 months," explains Neil McGawley, our managing director. "2015 marked another key stage in our development as we re-located our head office to larger, completely renovated premises in Leeds. This latest investment in the North West will further strengthen our position, enabling us to better cover the region and, crucially, to provide rental services for developing markets at both Manchester and Liverpool Airports."
In March, we moved into our new 52,000sq ft headquarters on the two acre site on Armley Road, representing a £2m investment. We completed a four month build programme to transform part of a vacant printing works into 25,000sq ft of office space, plus housing for 120 vehicles, including an in-fleet area for vehicle preparation. The site also features a show forecourt for our prestige cars sales and we have plans to redevelop a second building on the site into a glass-fronted car sales showroom. The new facilities have doubled our capacity, providing space for our 45 head office staff. We estimate that a further 30 jobs will be created in Leeds over the next 18 months.
Andy Crinson, general manager of AMT Vehicle Rental, said: "Our success in this highly competitive market is based upon our ability to provide outstanding service focusing on the individual needs of the customer as well as offering wider vehicle choice and competitive pricing. The North West offers great potential for growth and we are confident that our bespoke service and the innovative thinking we bring to the supply of specialist vehicles will enable us to build strong, long term relationships with customers here too."
